Kat DeLuna is one of the up and coming R&B/pop singers of today. She began her music career at the age of 15 by participating in a Coca-cola sponsored karaoke singing contest in which she won. She then became friends with Cuban singer Rey Ruiz who in turn suggested that she write her own music. Later on, Kat DeLuna made a deal with Global Music Brand as well as with a major recording label, Epic Records.

Kat DeLuna released her debut album, 9 Lives, which was produced by RedOne. The songs in this album are mostly written by Jane’t Sewell-Ulepic and Kat DeLuna herself. The album peaked at #58 in the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, and was used for the soundtrack of WWE Summer Slam on that same year.

9 Lives was a major hit album in countries outside the United States, particularly in France, where it reached the number one position in the album charts. This helped Kat DeLuna earn international stardom especially in European countries, but while she was doing well overseas, she remained to be virtually unknown in the United States. The Latin Billboard Music Awards 2008 gave Kat DeLuna more exposure this time in the United States music scene, as she received the award for “Latin Dance Club Play Track of the Year” for her hit single “Whine Up.”

Kat DeLuna was able to perform for a bigger audience when she sang the US National Anthem at the Texas Stadium for the Monday Night Football game, which featured a match between the Cowboys and Eagles. Her performance in the event gained media attention because of the crowd’s positive reaction to her amazing singing skills Kat DeLuna soon gained more popularity in the United States through write-ups in various music magazines.

After the hit single “Whine Up,” Kat DeLuna released the song entitled “Calling You.” It was an exclusive single. She first uploaded the song on her website and MySpace page for her fans and other audiences to listen to. After releasing “Calling You,” she then filmed a music video for her third single, “In The End,” which was aired exclusively in Europe. It was soon shown on YouTube in January 2009, along with another unreleased video for the track “Am I Dreaming?”

Later in 2009, Kat DeLuna released her single “Unstoppable,” which featured Lil’ Wayne. It was included in the official soundtrack for the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic. This was followed by a video, and a US tour named “Gay Club,” in February 2009. In mid-2009, she announced that she is recording new tracks for her 2-disc English-Spanish album named Inside Out.
